I grew up on Lafayette and Division Street in Baltimore City, raised by my grandparents for fourteen years before moving out to the county with my mother, father, three brothers, and a sister. My grandmother taught me to treat people with respect, do my best, work hard, and mind my business. That work ethic never left me.

On Fridays, my parents kept the bar stocked with top shelf — Hennessy, and Crown Royal in the purple bag with the gold string. That gold string always caught my eye. I told myself, one day, I'm only going to drink the good stuff.
